Operations Manager Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Operations Manager to join our team at Vistry Group. As an Operations Manager, you will play a key role in overseeing the production functions on contracts allocated by the Operations Director, from Pre-Commencement through to issue of Maintenance Certificate.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and implement effective management strategies to ensure high-quality construction projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to the required safety standards.
  • Lead and manage a team of Contract Managers and Production staff to achieve project goals and objectives.
  • Collaborate with the Pre-Commencement Department to ensure effective communication and feedback on market intelligence, technical developments, and build-ability issues.
  • Conduct regular site audits to ensure high standards of management controls are maintained and identify areas for improvement.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with subcontractors and suppliers to ensure timely delivery of materials and services.
  • Monitor and report on project progress, including physical and financial performance, to the board of directors.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant building regulations, planning conditions, and warranty provider standards.
  • Develop and implement strategies to improve quality, safety, and commercial performance across the business.
Requirements:
  • Proven experience in managing housing contracts in mixed tenure and social format, with knowledge of traditional and timber frame construction methods.
  • Excellent management and communication skills, with the ability to lead and motivate a team.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify and implement process improvements.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment, with multiple priorities and deadlines.
  • Strong understanding of health and safety regulations and procedures.
  • Professional qualifications in construction management or a related field.
