About the Role

Metro is seeking a skilled Ocean Freight Coordinator to join our dedicated Import and Export teams. As a key member of our team, you will play a pivotal role in orchestrating the movement of goods across international waters, ensuring they reach their destinations safely, efficiently, and on time.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and Build Relationships: Foster strong relationships with clients to provide exceptional customer service and ensure a high level of satisfaction.
  • Resolve Requests and Queries: Effectively and efficiently resolve client requests and queries, providing clear and accurate communication.
  • Freight Management: Ensure freight is moved on time, with all necessary documentation, and that all freight is invoiced and checked prior to dispatch.
  • Documentation and Administration: Maintain accurate records, including pre-alert documents, and ensure all necessary documentation is in place.
  • Communication and Collaboration: Communicate clearly and precisely with overseas agents and clients, resolving issues and complaints in a timely manner.
  • Haulage and Logistics: Arrange haulage with shipping lines and hauliers, ensuring all freight is moved efficiently and effectively.
  • Customer and Supplier Management: Maintain customer and supplier spreadsheets, ensuring accurate and up-to-date information.
  • Training and Development: Take ownership of your own training and development, continuously improving and developing your skills and knowledge.
Requirements
  • Experience: A minimum of 2 years' experience in freight forwarding, with a strong understanding of import and export logistics.
  • Communication and Numerical Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with strong numerical and commercial skills.
  • Attention to Detail: Excellent attention to detail, with an understanding of the commercial impact of errors.
  • Computer Skills: Proficient in Microsoft Windows and Microsoft Office, with experience in Cargowise (preferable).
  • Teamwork and Time Management: Proactive, team worker with excellent time management and organization skills.
