Position Overview
We are seeking two dedicated full-time Consultants in Clinical Oncology to enhance our Oncology team at the Royal Berkshire NHS Foundation Trust. The successful candidates will be expected to engage in two primary tumour areas within a pan-Berkshire role, with the possibility of a minor third site or participation in the Acute Oncology service. The department requires these professionals to deliver and further develop oncology services for patients with urological, lower gastrointestinal, lung, gynaecological, and non-melanomatous skin cancers across the region.
Key Responsibilities
The selected candidates will play a vital role in the ongoing provision of Oncology services, contributing to the advancement of these offerings at the Royal Berkshire NHS Foundation Trust. They will collaborate with the existing team to deliver specialized care to a growing patient demographic and enhance the department's visibility through education and training initiatives.
The Royal Berkshire NHS Foundation Trust's Oncology Service aims to establish itself as a leader in Oncology management. Therefore, the ideal candidates must possess essential procedural and leadership capabilities, along with the teamwork, motivation, and ambition necessary to achieve these objectives.
This is a full-time position with Programmed Activities for Direct Clinical Care (DCCs). The initial allocation for Supporting Professional Activities (SPAs) will be per week, with potential for increase as additional responsibilities are assumed.
It is expected that the successful candidates will work collaboratively with colleagues to maintain a consistently high-quality service that meets patient needs while also enhancing departmental visibility through educational efforts.
Qualifications and Requirements
Applicants must hold full GMC registration and either be on the Specialist Register or be within six months of obtaining a CCT/EU equivalent certification at the time of the interview.
