Job Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Programme Manager/Lead for Specialist Neurorehabilitation to join our team at East Lancashire Hospitals NHS Trust. The successful candidate will be responsible for assisting the team in maintaining a well-stocked, tidy, and welcoming environment for patients.

The Programme Manager/Lead will be responsible for carrying out assigned tasks involving direct care of patients in support of and supervised by a registered nurse in accordance with local policy and trust guidelines. This will include relieving trained nurses of non-clinical duties and rotating through all clinical areas to meet service needs.

Main Duties of the Job

The Programme Manager/Lead will be responsible for the following key duties:

  • Transferring patients throughout clinical areas using wheelchairs and trolleys.
  • Receiving patients into the reception/clinical areas, checking patient details prior to procedures, and acting as a chaperone when necessary.
  • Assisting in the safe moving and positioning of patients.
  • Cleaning, checking, and preparing all transfer trolleys.
  • Assisting in the cleaning of clinical areas and equipment, ensuring that the area is clear of potential hazards.
  • Removing clinical waste and body fluids.
  • Ensuring adequate stock levels are maintained.
  • Delivering specimens.
  • Completing documentation per local policy.
  • Refering untoward incidents to senior nurse on duty.
  • Compiling admission packs.
  • Participating in internal rotation within the unit.
Working for Our Organisation

As a Programme Manager/Lead for Specialist Neurorehabilitation, you will be part of a committed team providing high standards of care to adult patients attending for surgical procedures. Our team covers a range of specialties, including Orthopaedics, General and Breast surgery, Arterial, ENT, and Oral and minor plastic surgery, Urology, and chronic pain.

We are currently recruiting due to the expansion of our services, and staff will be expected to rotate to cover all shift patterns. Your main base will be at Burnley, with some cross-site cover required as we also support winter escalation areas.

The successful candidate will need to be in good health, as the day unit can be physically demanding. You will need to be flexible in your approach and possess good communication skills.

Detailed Job Description and Main Responsibilities

As a Programme Manager/Lead for Specialist Neurorehabilitation, you will be responsible for:

  • Communicating with patients and colleagues by telephone, face-to-face, in writing, or electronically to contribute to the efficient running of the department.
  • Co-operating with members of the multi-disciplinary team and reporting patient information to the relevant member of staff.
  • Attending mandatory training and reviews as local policy.
  • Participating in performance review process and achieving objectives.
  • Contributing to the development of the service.
  • Participating in clinical audit, trials, and research within the department.
  • Complying with safety policies, procedures, and guidelines for self and others.
  • Refaining from the wilful misuse or interference with equipment provided in the interest of Health and Safety.
  • Reporting as soon as is practically possible any hazards or defects.
  • Reporting as soon as is practically possible accidents or untoward incidents and ensuring appropriate incident reporting documentation is completed.

  • Basic numeracy and literacy skills.
