Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Department Manager to lead our Menswear and Cookshop/Linens department in our Salisbury Department Store. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of success in a similar role and possess excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.

Key Responsibilities

  • Customer Service
    • Ensure a high standard of customer service is provided by all departmental staff.
  • Team Leadership
    • Deliver training to ensure the team has the capability and confidence to deliver their role.
    • Lead colleagues to work with purpose, delivering outstanding performance against all relevant targets across the department.
  • Stock Management
    • Oversee the receiving, unpacking, pricing, and delivery of stock on the shop floor.
    • Maintain a hands-on approach with customer service and lead by example.
  • Reporting and Analysis
    • Create reports on sales, budgets, and adjust strategies accordingly.
  • Supplier Relationships
    • Maintain trust relationships with suppliers/reps when they visit the store.
  • Buyer Collaboration
    • Influence and develop relationships with buyers to identify customer preferences and forecast consumer trends.
  • Employee Development
    • Assist the buyer by attending exhibitions to remain up to date with market trends.
    • Mentor employees to enhance their skills and knowledge.
  • Customer Complaints
    • Deal with customer complaints promptly and efficiently.

Requirements

  • Experience as a successful manager within a high turnover department.
  • Current relevant experience of the department.
  • P&L expertise with impressive commercial acumen.
