About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Data Governance Manager to join our team at Barclays Bank UK PLC. As a key member of our organization, you will be responsible for developing and implementing effective governance frameworks for all data and records across our global operations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain a comprehensive data governance framework aligned with regulatory requirements and industry standards.
  • Monitor data quality and records metrics and compliance with standards across the organization.
  • Identify and address data and records management risks and gaps.
  • Develop and implement a records management programme that ensures the proper identification, classification, storage, retention, retrieval, and disposal of records.
  • Develop and implement a data governance strategy that aligns with our overall data management strategy and business objectives.
  • Provide group-wide guidance and training on data and records management standard requirements.

Director Expectations

  • Provide expert advice to senior functional management and committees to influence decisions made outside of your function, offering significant input to function-wide strategic initiatives.
  • Manage, coordinate, and enable resourcing, budgeting, and policy creation for a significant sub-function.
  • Escalate breaches of policies/procedures appropriately.
  • Foster and guide compliance, ensuring regulations are observed, and relevant processes are in place to facilitate adherence.
  • Focus on the external environment, regulators, or advocacy groups to both monitor and influence on behalf of Barclays, when appropriate.
  • Demonstrate extensive knowledge of how your function integrates with the business division/Group to achieve the overall business objectives.
  • Maintain broad and comprehensive knowledge of industry theories and practices within your discipline, alongside up-to-date relevant sector/functional knowledge, and insight into external market developments/initiatives.
  • Use interpretative thinking and advanced analytical skills to solve problems and design solutions in often complex/sensitive situations.
  • Exercise management authority to make significant decisions and certain strategic decisions or recommendations within your area.
  • Negotiate with and influence stakeholders at a senior level both internally and externally.
  • Act as the principal contact point for key clients and counterparts in other functions/business divisions.
  • Mandated as a spokesperson for the function and business division.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the CDO Group Data Management Standards (GDMS) transformation agenda, including automation and process improvements to the way the bank governs and reports data risk.
  • Coordinate the execution of GDMS transformation activity, working with standards owners.
  • Set up and manage change delivery working groups and committees.
  • Manage group-wide GDMS processes, including group records management.
  • Contribute to the design of an enhanced GDMS data control, including data quality, records management, and ownership.
  • Track and report progress towards delivering CDO business outcomes and key results, i.e., to senior leadership and stakeholders.
  • Manage a team of specialist governance practitioners.
