Job Title: IFRS Accounting Specialist

Certain Advantage is recruiting on behalf of our Public Sector client for two IFRS Accounting Specialists on 12-month contract assignments. The successful candidates will work full-time and visit the Central London office 1-2 days a week.

This role is deemed Inside IR35.

Fantastic opportunity to support an important department on a change programme changing the way this department reports its finances to align with IFRS 9 and IFRS 17.

Main Activities
  • Providing IFRS technical accounting advice and guidance, developing technical papers (where needed) in accordance with governance requirements.
  • Building and developing Excel spreadsheets to perform accounting and modelling calculations required to identify data gaps, validate systems outputs, and meet other Programme requirements.
  • Supporting transition execution approach and plan, covering the opening balances and comparative financial statements.
  • Supporting with Audit engagement requirements and responding to queries.
  • Supporting the implementation of the IT solutions (including the General Ledger, IFRS Calculation Engine, and Sub-Ledgers), including any related processes and controls for end-to-end reporting.
  • Supporting the Finance Function in testing activity, including ensuring testing issues are resolved on a timely basis.
  • Supporting the development and implementation of the Accounting Rules, Chart of Accounts, ledger posting, and IFRS disclosures.
  • Analysing the data inputs/outputs to/from the Calculation Engine and General Ledger, ensuring the outputs meet the reporting requirements, investigating any issues, and recommending potential changes.
  • Working closely with all stakeholders, including the FRC Delivery Partner, Auditors, and other internal and external stakeholders.
  • Assisting in ensuring that reporting solutions used across the Finance function are fit for purpose in the rollout of IFRS 9/17.
  • Presenting or supporting presenters on financial reporting matters at training events.
  • As appropriate, maintaining a robust control environment in accordance with good practice and risk framework.
  • Providing administrative, logistical, and other support as required to the Programme.
  • Other ad hoc tasks as required to ensure business readiness (e.g., GL data cleansing, resolving data issues, and supporting data migration).
Your Experience
  • Experience in providing either IFRS 9 or IFRS 17 technical accounting advice and guidance.
  • Practical IFRS implementation experience.
  • Experience building and developing Excel models performing accounting and modelling calculations.
  • Experience in preparing transition accounts.
  • Experience in designing and supporting new processes, controls, and Working Day Timetables (WDT).
  • Experience designing, implementing, and testing the future state systems and solutions.
  • Eligibility to obtain UK SC Clearance is a requirement.
