Cardiff, Cardiff, United Kingdom Cardiff Metropolitan University Full time
Widening Participation Officer

Are you committed to enhancing educational opportunities for diverse communities? Cardiff Metropolitan University is seeking a motivated and passionate individual to take on the role of Widening Participation Officer.

In this full-time position, you will oversee a range of significant initiatives aimed at assisting various groups in South East Wales in overcoming obstacles to higher education.

Your role will involve collaborating with numerous partners to support adults lacking level 4 qualifications, young individuals in educational settings, youth with care experience, and those with caregiving responsibilities, equipping them with the necessary guidance and resources for success.

We are dedicated to fostering a supportive and inclusive atmosphere where every individual is valued and respected. Our team operates on fundamental principles of Caring, Collaboration, Inclusion, and Reflection, ensuring that all voices are acknowledged and contributions are celebrated.

While we offer a flexible hybrid working arrangement, we encourage regular participation in our vibrant campus community.

Your Responsibilities:

Oversee a portfolio of initiatives targeting the priority audiences of Widening Participation, working closely with local educational institutions, stakeholders, and partners in South East Wales.

Manage all facets of project execution, including initiative design, promotion, implementation, budgeting, risk assessment, safeguarding, data collection, evaluation, and reporting.

Assist the Widening Participation Manager in delivering a cohesive program that aligns with the objectives and KPIs of the South East Wales Widening Participation Strategy.

Establish and nurture relationships with key contacts and network with partners to enhance the Widening Participation brand.

Provide expert advice and guidance on Widening Participation objectives, processes, and procedures to both internal and external stakeholders.

Enhance the partnership's visibility through effective evaluation and storytelling across various media platforms, and support the development of consultation responses and reports.

What You Will Bring:

You will be a dedicated individual with extensive knowledge and experience in the university sector, particularly in broadening access to higher education.

Your strong project management abilities will be evident as you design, implement, and assess impactful initiatives that significantly affect the lives of our priority audiences.

Exceptional communication skills will enable you to engage and motivate both internal and external stakeholders, while your proficiency with standard office IT applications will help you maintain organization and efficiency.

Your capacity to work independently and collaboratively, demonstrating initiative and meticulous attention to detail, will be crucial for your success in this position.

We value additional qualifications and experiences, such as a Postgraduate Certificate in Education (PGCE), experience in line management, and a background in progressive higher education settings.

If you are passionate about making higher education accessible to all and can communicate effectively in Welsh, that would be an advantage. Flexibility is essential, as some events may occur during evenings and weekends.

In this fulfilling role, your commitment and expertise can truly create a positive impact.
