Responsibilities- Provide individualized and skilled support to students with diverse learning needs, including learning, behavioral, communication, social, sensory, or physical difficulties.
- Work collaboratively with teaching staff to support students in small groups or one-on-one.
- Understand and cater to specific learning needs and styles, providing differentiated support to students individually and in groups.
- Implement planned learning activities and teaching programs as agreed with the teacher, adjusting activities according to students' responses as necessary.
- Establish positive relationships with students and provide feedback on their attainment and progress under the guidance of the teacher.
- Support students in developing literacy and numeracy skills.
- Assist in the use of ICT in the classroom and help students develop their competence and independence in its use.
- Promote inclusion and acceptance of children with special needs within the classroom, ensuring access to lessons and their content through clarification, explanation, and resources.
- Promote positive student behavior in line with school policies and help students stay on task.
- Participate in planning and evaluation of learning activities with the teacher, writing reports and records as required.
- Monitor and record student responses and learning achievements, drawing attention to any problems that cannot be resolved easily to the teacher.
- Support learning by selecting appropriate resources and methods to facilitate agreed learning activities.
- Supervise students for limited and specified periods, including break times, and facilitate games and activities.
- Assist with escorting students on educational visits.
- Understand and apply school policies related to health, safety, and welfare.
- A close working relationship with a dedicated SENDCO.
- Mentoring during the induction period and beyond.
- In-house Mental Health and Wellbeing Lead, as well as dedicated Wellbeing support via the telephone.
- A caring and supportive team environment where everyone works together to achieve the best outcomes for students.
