Role Overview:
This position is designed to assist the Tax team in various functions. It is ideal for candidates either transitioning in-house or seeking to broaden their expertise in tax issues relevant to a UK-based financial services firm, particularly in international contexts. The role provides a solid foundation in essential tax functions while offering opportunities for professional growth and engagement with a broader spectrum of tax matters affecting the organization.
Key Responsibilities:
- Tax Advisory: Conduct research and analysis on tax technical issues, collaborate with team members on transfer pricing policies, documentation, and testing, and assist with project-based and ad hoc tax tasks.
- Corporation Tax Compliance: Prepare UK corporation tax returns and support the implementation of global minimum tax initiatives.
- VAT Compliance: Aid in the preparation of UK VAT returns, manage EMEA VAT returns and filings in conjunction with local advisors, and collaborate with the Senior Tax Manager on VAT advisory queries and projects.
- Employment Tax Compliance: Oversee the preparation of PAYE Settlement Agreement returns, assist with Short Term Business Visitors returns, and work with the Senior International Tax Manager on global mobility-related queries.
- Tax Reporting: Prepare tax disclosures for statutory accounts of EMEA subsidiaries, support consolidated tax reporting and forecasting, and work with Finance and Operations teams to enhance collaboration.
- Additional Duties: Identify and implement process improvements to support the Tax team's objectives.
Qualifications and Skills:
- Experience in tax compliance in areas such as corporation tax, employment tax, or VAT.
- Technical knowledge of tax applications in commercial settings.
- Familiarity with tax return software like Alphatax is advantageous.
- Understanding of tax accounting principles, including IFRS and UK GAAP, is beneficial.
- ACA or ACCA qualified, or part-qualified; CTA qualification is a plus.
- Strong organizational and interpersonal skills, with adaptability and resilience.
- Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
- Results-driven with a sense of accountability and teamwork.
- Attention to detail and commitment to quality control.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks effectively while meeting deadlines.
- Self-motivated and capable of working independently.
- Willingness to learn new skills and technologies as needed.
