Job Title: Adult Mental Health Practitioner - Specialist Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Adult Mental Health Practitioner to join our team in the Children's Emergency Department at University Hospitals Bristol and Weston NHS Foundation Trust.

The successful candidate will provide expert mental health care and assessment to children and young people presenting to the CED, working closely with other services to support the care of patients with acute, chronic, or co-existing emotional and mental health needs.

The role will involve initial assessment, consultation, advice, and signposting to children and young people, as well as liaison with other services to ensure seamless care and safe transfers and discharges.

The successful candidate will be supported by the CED consultant lead for mental health, the Hospital senior nurse - lead for mental health, and the CIOT team.

About the Role
  • Provide expert mental health care and assessment to children and young people presenting to the CED
  • Work closely with other services to support the care of patients with acute, chronic, or co-existing emotional and mental health needs
  • Initial assessment, consultation, advice, and signposting to children and young people
  • Liaison with other services to ensure seamless care and safe transfers and discharges
Requirements
  • Experience of clinical mental health working with children, adolescents, or adults
  • Expertise in assessing risk and risk management
  • Experience of presenting mental health understanding to multi-professional teams
  • Experience of working in CAMHS and with CYPS
  • Knowledge of Mental Health Act and Children's Act
  • Experience of formal teaching/training to health and other professionals
  • Experience of work within a health setting
