Job Title: Learning Support Assistant

Prospero Teaching is seeking an experienced Learning Support Assistant to work at a school in Bridgend, supporting children with moderate learning difficulties.

The ideal candidate will provide learning support to pupils and work in groups and on a 1:1 basis, supported by other support and education staff. Previous experience of supporting those with complex needs or working within education is desirable.

Candidates must be comfortable working in an environment with challenging behaviour and be aware that these roles are physically demanding.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide learning support to pupils with moderate learning difficulties
  • Work in groups and on a 1:1 basis with pupils
  • Support other support and education staff
  • Manage challenging behaviour
Requirements:
  • Relevant experience in a school or similar setting
  • Experience of working with children and young people with special educational needs and/or social, emotional and mental health difficulties
  • Experience of effectively managing behaviour
  • Up to date Safeguarding training (desirable but training can be provided)
Eligibility:
  • Hold Right to Work in the UK
  • Hold an enhanced child barred list DBS certificate registered with the online update service or be willing to process a new application
  • Provide two professional child-related references that cover the last two years
