Materials Scientist

We are seeking a highly skilled Materials Engineer to join our team at Mercedes-Benz. As a key member of our Power Unit team, you will be responsible for leading hands-on forensic investigation into failed electronic components, identifying root causes, and recommending options to prevent future occurrences.
Key Responsibilities:- Lead failure analysis investigations into failed electronic components, identifying root causes and recommending options to prevent future occurrences.
- Provide expert guidance to engineers in material selection and production techniques, researching and developing new material options that offer a benefit to the Power Unit.
- Advise on sourcing and selection of external suppliers, identifying and conducting relevant research and development activities to improve materials, processes, and characterisation techniques.
- Support manufacturing and quality departments on material and process issues, producing and developing materials specifications and quality standards.
- Materials Degree with 2:1 classification or above and greater than 3 years' experience in a similar job role.
- Tenacious, curious, and self-motivated with a clear and concise communication style.
- Methodical and rigorous with outstanding attention to detail, able to work under pressure with tight time constraints.
- Respectful of Health & Safety matters and able to provide a strong academic background.
