Exciting Opportunity for Remediation Technician

Ecologia, part of the RSK Group, is seeking a skilled Remediation Technician to join their team in Sittingbourne, UK. This is a full-time, permanent position that offers a challenging and rewarding career path.

As a Remediation Technician, you will play a crucial role in supporting our work in Environmental Claims, dealing with land-based oil spills and other incidents. You will work on site-based projects, as well as in the office and workshop, requiring an adaptable approach to assist with urgent response situations.

The successful candidate will be part of a small team, working closely with colleagues to respond to pollution incidents, remediate oil spills, investigate and remediate contaminated land. Key responsibilities will include:

  • Assisting with emergency oil spill response, including installation of absorption booms, pumps, vapour extraction fans, and aeration systems.
  • Installation and monitoring of in-situ treatment systems.
  • Ensuring compliance with Health and Safety Procedures.
  • Providing feedback to the Project Manager from site.
  • Liaising with contractors.
  • Soil and groundwater sampling.
  • Preparing and sending samples to accredited laboratories.
  • Operating scientific equipment.
  • Assisting with maintenance and cleaning of yard, vehicles, stores, and equipment.

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • The ability to work outdoors as an effective member of a team and on your own initiative.
  • A CSCS card is desirable.
  • An NVQ or City & Guilds in a mechanical, electrical, or engineering subject is desirable, but not essential.
  • A qualification in an environmental, landscaping, or construction-related subject is desirable but not essential.
  • Good communication and problem-solving skills are essential.
  • A basic ability to use common computer software (Word, Excel) is required.
  • The job will require willingness to travel across the South East and sometimes further afield; a full UK/EC driving licence is essential.
