Job Description:

We are seeking an experienced and motivated Senior Specialist Biomedical Scientist to join our team in North Glasgow Biochemistry. The department is a hub for specialized areas, including the Scottish Trace Element and Micronutrient Diagnostic and Research Laboratory (STEMDRL). Our team handles a massive workload of over 10 million analyses of more than 180 different tests, making us one of the largest in the UK.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide training and direct supervision to trainees within the department.
  • Have extensive experience of mentoring both IBMS state registration and specialist portfolios.
  • Work in a range of specialist areas and demonstrate a working knowledge of discipline-specific procedures.
  • Support the department's commitment to continued professional and personal development.

Requirements:

  • HCPC registration as a biomedical scientist.
  • Evidence of ongoing continuing professional development.
  • Specialist portfolio in Biochemistry.
  • Possession of a relevant Master of Science degree or equivalent in Biochemistry.

Working Hours:

This is a fixed-term post for one year with full-time hours (37 hours per week) to cover maternity, worked over a 24/7 shift pattern.
