The ideal candidate will oversee the mechanical and electrical upkeep of both stationary and mobile equipment, as well as the heavy goods vehicle (HGV) and light goods vehicle (LGV) fleet. This role includes the coordination of maintenance tasks to ensure optimal performance.


Key Responsibilities

  • Adhere to Health & Safety and Environmental regulations.
  • Ensure all repairs meet compliance standards as per Operators licence requirements.
  • Collaborate closely with the transport department to maintain vehicles to a compliant standard.
  • Manage defect repairs efficiently to enhance vehicle availability, minimizing downtime.
  • Deliver exceptional customer service consistently.
  • Maintain effective communication at all times.
  • Utilize all IT systems accurately, ensuring timely data entry and processing.
  • Perform basic mechanical tasks, including removal of damaged parts and installation of new components.
  • Conduct basic electrical repairs on vehicles.
  • Order necessary parts and consumables.
  • Assist third-party engineers with both plant and vehicle maintenance.
  • Monitor and address daily vehicle defects, arranging repairs as needed.
  • Fabricate hydraulic hoses for replacement on vehicles and plant as required (training available).
  • Assist in the preparation of vehicle disposals.
  • Weld containers (skip/RoRo) and perform welding and heating on vehicle components (training available).
  • Conduct basic refurbishment of containers, including painting and applying environmental graphics.

Skills, Knowledge and Expertise

  • Strong communication skills (both written and verbal) with the ability to engage at all levels.
  • Self-driven and resourceful.
  • Capable of planning and prioritizing personal workload.
  • Proficient IT skills and computer literacy.
  • Detail-oriented and organized in work activities.
  • Experience in proactive and reactive maintenance with strong problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to remain composed under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
  • Flexible and available to work as needed to ensure operational continuity.
