About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Systems Engineer to join our Systems Design team at BAE Systems.

As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for managing the software design activities of our external software suppliers, ensuring that they meet our customers' requirements and standards.

You will work closely with our ESS Systems Integration test, Software development, Hardware and Operations teams to improve efficiency and quality of the FESS, allowing optimal operation and providing feedback as early as possible to the team leader.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage the FESS subsystem design artefacts provided by external suppliers
  • Investigate problems related to supplier subsystem designs
  • Support the integration of new capabilities into the FESS
  • Create and review documentation for the wider FESS team and customers
  • Configure supplier-provided software for successful application builds
  • Maintain familiarity with current tools and software products used within the team
  • Manage your own time effectively to meet tight programme timescales
Requirements
  • Strong engineering background
  • Experience in system and software application design and architecture principles
  • Understanding of modelling techniques and tools (UML, Enterprise Architect, XML/XSD)
  • Experience with requirements analysis, elaboration, and management tools (Rational DOORS)
  • Experience with configuration and version control tools (Rational ClearCase, Git)
  • HNC/HND in a STEM subject or equivalent relevant experience
Desirable Skills
  • Experience with database technologies (Oracle, SQL, etc.)
  • Experience with software application builds and deployment
