Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Laboratory Technician to join our team at the UK Atomic Energy Authority. As a Laboratory Technician, you will play a crucial role in the analysis of samples for the determination of Beryllium by UV fluorescence and analysis of samples for Tritium by Liquid Scintillation Counting.

Key Responsibilities
  • Sample Analysis: Perform quality checks of internal counting parameters and record analysis results onto the Local Information Management System (LIMS) samples database. Calculate and validate data prior to publication to internal customers.
  • Quality Control: Maintain and verify laboratory equipment to ensure their fit for purpose. Prepare and maintain laboratory Internal Quality Control (IQC) systems.
  • Support Duties: Provide support to Senior Technicians in method validation, modification, and improvement. Carry out support duties for the routine functioning of the laboratory, including record keeping, glassware cleaning, preparation and processing of waste, monitoring the laboratory consumables, and other tasks.
  • Safety and Compliance: Ensure the laboratory is run safely by provision of daily checks related to lab scrubber system, and other safety-related equipment, maintaining 5S and 7Waste methodology, including 5S audits.
Requirements
  • BSc or equivalent in a science discipline.
  • Experience of work in accredited laboratory to ISO 17025 or similar.
