Position Overview

Job Title: Lead Cybersecurity Engineer

Department: Information Security

Reports To: Chief Information Security Officer

Compensation: £110,000 (plus 15% performance bonus)

Our organization is in search of a dedicated and skilled Cybersecurity Engineer to enhance our security measures.

Your contributions will be essential in safeguarding confidential data, fortifying systems, and maintaining a strong security framework. Your expertise will play a vital role as we embark on innovative security initiatives and refine our existing security infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Project Leadership: Overseeing technical security initiatives from inception to successful execution.
  • Operational Management: Administering and sustaining the daily functions of key security product suites, ensuring optimal performance.
  • Risk Management: Regularly evaluating current security protocols, identifying areas for improvement, and implementing strategies to reduce the organization's risk exposure.
  • Continuous Learning: Keeping abreast of the latest security developments, threats, vulnerabilities, and best practices, and adjusting strategies accordingly to protect the organization's assets.
  • Process Automation: Creating and deploying scripts (Python/PowerShell) to automate security processes, enhancing efficiency and minimizing manual tasks.
  • Security Reporting: Collaborating with the CISO and Data Security Program Managers to provide meaningful security metrics to senior management.
  • Security Maturity: Actively participating in initiatives to elevate the organization's security maturity, aligning with industry standards and best practices.
  • Collaborative Efforts: Partnering with the IT Infrastructure Security Services Group and working alongside the Infrastructure team on security projects and initiatives.
  • Incident Management: Engaging in incident response activities, utilizing your expertise to address and resolve security incidents.

Qualifications:

  • Demonstrated experience in a Security Analyst capacity, preferably within the financial services domain.
  • Strong technical proficiency in SIEM, Next Generation Firewalls, internal vulnerability assessments, and attack simulation programs.
  • Familiarity with Active Directory/Windows environments.
  • Understanding of current data protection regulations (e.g., GDPR, CCPA).
  • Experience with NIST, CSC, or Mitre ATT&CK frameworks.
  • Exceptional communication and teamwork abilities.
  • Capacity to work autonomously and take initiative.
  • Experience with security product APIs.
  • Knowledge of securing cloud environments (Azure, AWS, O365) and SaaS applications.
  • Experience with Linux and/or Mac security.
  • Involvement in Red/Blue/Purple Team penetration testing exercises.
  • Project management experience is highly advantageous (as a project manager or technical lead).
  • Proficiency in scripting (Python and/or PowerShell).

Educational Background:

  • Cybersecurity Apprenticeship certificate, A Levels, or equivalent professional experience.
  • CISSP certification (highly preferred).
