Job Summary

We're seeking a Senior Consultant - Health and Safety CDM Principal Designer to join our team. As a key member of our Health and Safety department, you'll be responsible for delivering Health and Safety consultancy services to existing and new clients. Your expertise will help us develop new opportunities and improve our efficiency in line with our business vision and objectives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver Health and Safety consultancy services to clients, understanding their needs and expectations.
  • Develop new opportunities in accordance with our Health and Safety business plan.
  • Improve Health and Safety efficiency by understanding and developing existing systems and processes.
  • Provide expert advice as Principal Designer, helping clients manage and understand their legal responsibilities under CDM regulations.
  • Establish positive relationships with clients, gaining their confidence and trust.
  • Represent Turner & Townsend professionally, meeting, negotiating, and corresponding with clients in a timely manner.
  • Manage commissions, ensuring client expectations and our business management system requirements are met.
  • Undertake relevant audits, as per contract requirements.
  • Secure new opportunities for Health and Safety and the wider Turner & Townsend business.
  • Manage the region efficiently, adhering to our business financial management systems and set KPIs.
  • Liaise with the Health and Safety team to ensure consistency of service delivery and identify opportunities for quality and profitability improvement.
  • Compile and create relevant pre-construction information and Health and Safety files.
  • Act as Principal Designer, helping discharge relevant statutory duties for all parties.

Requirements

  • Excellent communication skills (written and verbal) - essential.
  • Ability to effectively plan and organise your workload to meet deadlines - essential.
  • Good IT skills to generate reports and documents - essential.
  • Solutions-driven - essential.
  • Creative thinker - desirable.
  • Excellent client empathy - essential.
  • Extensive knowledge and experience in construction and asset-related Health, Safety, and Well-being management.
  • Experience of a diverse range of industry sectors, with expertise in the infrastructure sector and proven ability to meet client needs in that sector - an advantage.
  • Team and business management experience.
  • Acting as a focal point as Principal Designer.

Education and Professional Qualifications

  • NEBOSH Construction Certificate - Essential.
  • Membership of APS - Essential.
  • Full UK driving licence - Essential.
  • Degree-level education - Desired.
  • NEBOSH Diploma Level (or equivalent) - Desired.
  • CMIOSH or equivalent – Desired.
