The CCD unit within SOAS Library plays a vital role in preserving and making accessible our rich collections. We specialize in the conservation and digitization of library and gallery materials, ensuring their long-term viability and accessibility for research and education.

About the Role

As the Digital Content Strategist, you will lead an in-house digitization program utilizing state-of-the-art equipment. Your expertise will encompass all aspects of digitization, including workflows, metadata creation, and its relationship to conservation practices.

You will supervise a team of dedicated professionals, overseeing both permanent staff and project personnel as needed. This role involves collaborating closely with the Conservator and Digital Collections Archivist to ensure seamless integration between physical and digital preservation efforts.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement comprehensive digitization strategies aligned with SOAS's research and educational goals.
  • Manage and supervise a team of digitization specialists, fostering a collaborative and high-performing environment.
  • Oversee the technical aspects of digitization projects, ensuring adherence to industry best practices and quality standards.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders across SOAS to identify digitization needs and prioritize projects effectively.
  • Stay abreast of emerging technologies and trends in digital preservation and content management.
