Are you passionate about renewable energy and its integration into the electrical grid? This is a remarkable opportunity for a Senior Grid Connection Specialist to work with a prominent developer in the solar and battery energy storage sector.

Employment Type: Permanent Contract

The Senior Grid Connection Specialist will oversee all phases of assigned projects, ensuring timely completion and adherence to budget constraints.

Key Responsibilities

The responsibilities of this role encompass, but are not limited to:

  • Supervising the design of electrical and civil connections, ensuring all necessary permits are secured for construction.
  • Preparing and submitting PGMD applications for approval from Distribution Network Operators (DNOs).
  • Reviewing planning documents and Independent Connection Provider (ICP) designs to ensure compliance with applicable standards.
  • Assessing project design and contractual documents to guarantee on-time and on-budget delivery.
  • Drafting ICP tender documents and assisting in negotiation processes.
  • Collaborating with DNOs and ICPs to secure the most cost-effective connections.
  • Preparing submissions for power system studies related to battery and solar projects.
  • Providing on-site supervision during construction and commissioning phases.
  • Evaluating grid power studies for various solar and battery initiatives.
  • Identifying potential issues and proactively implementing measures to mitigate project risks.

The ideal candidate will possess the ability to recognize potential challenges and take proactive steps to prevent delays. On-site presence may be required to address project-specific operational issues.

Accountabilities
  • Contributes to the strategic direction of the Business Stream.
  • Ensures compliance with current legislation and relevant utility policies, procedures, specifications, and codes of practice.
  • Maintains fit-for-purpose design processes and procedures to support business objectives.
  • Secures necessary approvals and planning consents as required.
  • Provides analytical support and advice to resolve issues and enhance operational performance.
  • Offers functional leadership within a defined service area.
  • Develops and nurtures professional networks to foster best practices and effective solutions.
  • Formulates training and development plans for team succession.
Qualifications

The successful candidate will have:

  • A degree in Electrical Engineering (MSc/MEng/BSc/BEng or equivalent).
  • Project management experience (3+ years) in the ICP and/or DNO/IDNO sectors.
  • Experience in solar PV and battery energy storage systems.
  • A solid understanding of commercial principles.
