Principal Network Compliance Officer

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Principal Network Compliance Officer to join our dynamic Network Management team. As a key member of the team, you will play a vital role in maintaining road networks to the highest standards.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead daily inspection and enforcement regimes under relevant legislation, including the New Roads and Street Works Act and the Highways Act.
  • Enforce relevant legislation, issuing formal notices and coordinating with partners to ensure compliance.
  • Supervise statutory undertakers' works to ensure compliance with Council policies and the delivery of the Council's Network Management Duty.
  • Oversee highway safety inspections and ensure that any identified issues are addressed in line with required standards.
  • Represent the Council in public meetings, inquiries, and legal proceedings, providing technical guidance and ensuring compliance.
  • Prepare reports and statements of evidence for legal cases and present findings in court when necessary.
About You:

We are looking for someone with a comprehensive understanding of relevant legislation and experience in highway enforcement, inspections, and compliance. You will need to have a proven track record of working in partnership with various stakeholders to achieve objectives.

Key Skills and Experience Required:
  • Expertise in the New Roads and Street Works Act and Traffic Management Act.
  • Strong knowledge of the London Permit Scheme and highways safety codes of practice.
  • Proven ability to carry out effective inspection regimes and enforcement actions.
  • Experience with managing legal cases, including evidence preparation and court presentations.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to liaise with a wide variety of stakeholders.
  • Strong IT skills with proficiency in word processing, presentation software, and database management.
Qualifications:
  • A relevant Street Works Supervisor qualification or significant relevant experience.
  • Full, clean driving licence.
