SEN Teaching Assistant - ASD Experienced

GSL Education is seeking a dedicated and experienced SEN Teaching Assistant - ASD to join our team in Newcastle. As a SEN Teaching Assistant - ASD, you will play a vital role in supporting students with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) in their academic and social development.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Support students with ASD in both their academic and social development.
  • Collaborate with the class teacher to implement tailored learning plans.
  • Assist in the preparation of classroom resources and materials.
  • Encourage positive behaviour and provide emotional support to students.
  • Monitor student progress and report to teachers and parents.
  • Promote independence and foster social interaction among students.
Requirements:
  • Experience working with children with ASD or in a similar SEN role.
  • A calm, understanding approach to managing challenging behaviours.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to build positive relationships.
  • Relevant qualifications or training in Special Educational Needs (SEN) are desirable.
  • A genuine passion for supporting children with additional needs.
  • An enhanced DBS on the Update Service or willingness to obtain one immediately.
