Key Responsibilities of the HGV Cover Transport Operator include:
  • Executing daily tasks as directed by your supervisor
  • Ensuring timely and accurate deliveries
  • Completing all necessary documentation in compliance with regulations
  • Participating in relevant training to enhance your skills and contribute to ongoing improvements
  • Reporting any incidents or damages to equipment
  • Maintaining high service standards to deliver a 'first-class' experience to all clients
  • Securing the goods transported to the highest standards
  • Engaging in projects as assigned and ensuring their successful completion
  • Promoting Sims Metal positively to colleagues, clients, suppliers, and the community
  • Conducting safety checks on the vehicle before departure and taking necessary actions
  • Informing the relevant manager of any non-conformities and ensuring corrective measures are implemented
  • Adhering to all transport procedures throughout operations
  • Performing additional duties as reasonably required by the company
  • Complying with all company policies regarding conduct, environmental standards, health and safety, and community engagement

The ideal candidate will possess exceptional organizational abilities, with a keen eye for detail and accuracy. Strong interpersonal skills, self-motivation, flexibility, and adaptability are essential. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, along with integrity and confidentiality, are required.

Applicants must hold a valid HGV Licence Class 2 or higher, with prior experience in HGV driving being essential. A solid understanding of logistics and geography is necessary, and candidates should possess a Digital Tachograph Card and Driver CPC.

Flexibility and a willingness to travel, including overnight stays when necessary, are crucial for this role.
