About the Role

Sainsbury's is seeking a highly skilled Senior Buyer to join our Commercial team. As a key member of the team, you will play a crucial role in shaping and executing the category strategy, driving profitable growth and delivering an exceptional customer experience.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead buying activities and ensure the translation of category strategy into profitable growth for your ranges and those of your teams.
  • Develop and implement a customer-focused product proposition across all channels, working collaboratively with product development, global sourcing teams, and suppliers.
  • Manage, motivate, and develop the Buying team, while closely collaborating with merchandising counterparts to achieve the category strategy.
  • Ensure data-driven insights and stay updated with market and competitor activity to drive sales, margin, stock, availability, digital metrics, and customer satisfaction.
  • Manage promotions and events, monitor market trends, optimise stock and supply, and manage channel execution to enhance sales, profitability, and market share.
Requirements
  • Strong commercial awareness and previous Buying experience, preferably within a Non-food Omni-channel environment.
  • Knowledge of systems and processes in a complex multi-channel environment, with the ability to balance short and long-term objectives to deliver the category plan.
  • High degree of commercial acumen with a proven track record of commercial successes within this or other organisations.
  • Ability to analyse complex data from multiple sources to drive decisions and strategies.
  • Proven track record of delivering results to targets as an individual and within a team.
  • Financially astute, with an understanding of how own business decisions can influence shareholder value.
  • Ability to work under pressure in a fast-moving dynamic retail environment.
  • Ability to identify market trends and opportunities, at pace.
  • Confidence to influence and engage at all levels.
  • Effective communicator, presenter, and team player with an ability to bring others with them to deliver the strategy.
