Data Careers is seeking a Cybersecurity Engineering Manager for a technology-focused public sector entity. This role presents an exciting opportunity within a progressive organization, where the Cybersecurity Engineering Manager will spearhead the establishment and growth of a new Security / Cyber Engineering division.
This position involves hands-on management responsibilities, where you will design, implement, and enhance our cybersecurity frameworks and solutions. Your role will be pivotal in safeguarding our organization’s networks, systems, and data against cyber threats by formulating and executing a comprehensive cyber defense strategy.
You will oversee one team member, so prior management or team leadership experience is highly valued.
This is a hybrid position requiring on-site presence in Brighton for a limited number of days each month.
Key Responsibilities:
- Leadership: Direct, manage, and nurture the Security / Cyber Engineering team to ensure the delivery of effective security solutions.
- Strategic Planning: Develop and execute a long-term cyber engineering strategy to enhance defenses and mitigate risks.
- Technical Expertise: Optimize and improve the efficacy of the organization’s cybersecurity tools, including Microsoft security services and third-party solutions.
- Collaboration: Engage with key stakeholders across the organization to align security initiatives with broader business goals and ensure a cohesive approach to cybersecurity.
- Incident Response: Provide expert support and guidance during security incidents, ensuring prompt and effective resolution.
- Continuous Improvement: Remain informed about the latest cybersecurity threats, trends, and technologies, applying this knowledge to enhance our security posture.
Essential Experience:
- Demonstrated experience leading a cybersecurity team with practical knowledge of network security technologies.
- Strong history of designing and implementing multi-year cyber engineering strategies.
- Extensive technical experience with Microsoft security and infrastructure services, including Defender, Sentinel, Azure Security Center, and others.
- Expertise in integrating and supporting third-party security solutions within Microsoft cloud environments.
- Comprehensive understanding of network architecture design and hands-on support.
- A genuine passion for cybersecurity and a proactive approach to identifying and addressing risks.
Desirable Qualifications:
- Cybersecurity certifications such as (ISC)2 ISSEP or SSCP, CompTIA Security+, Microsoft Certified: Azure Security Engineer Associate.
