We are seeking a highly skilled Maintenance Technician to join our Engineering team at Northwood, a leading UK manufacturer of away-from-home paper hygiene products.
As a Maintenance Technician, you will be responsible for responding to breakdowns, performing corrective tasks, and maintaining Planned Preventative Maintenance Schedules (PPM's). You will have the opportunity to develop your skills in a manufacturing role using state-of-the-art machinery, with opportunities for career progression.
Key Responsibilities:
- Ensure all PPM's are completed safely, cost-effectively, on time, and to a satisfactory standard.
- Report to the Site Engineering Manager and be capable of acting as proxy if required.
- Provide a service that ensures all mechanical and electrical equipment is running to optimum performance levels and that all departmental Service Level Agreement's and Key Performance Indicators are met.
- React in a timely manner to maintenance requests.
- Follow common processes and standards within the engineering department, including Safety, Quality, Environment, and Security.
- Maximize availability of all mechanical and electrical equipment through continuous improvement.
Essential Requirements:
- Qualification in a relevant engineering discipline or served a full engineering apprenticeship.
- Background in tissue/paper converting, printing, or similar industries would be advantageous.
- Significant practical engineering experience.
- Proven knowledge/experience of PLCs, including Siemens S5 and S7.
- Multi-skilled in both electrical and mechanical disciplines (60/40 split).
- Strong analytical skills with demonstrated problem-solving ability.
- Significant experience of AC and DC motors and drives.
- Excellent English communication skills (written & verbal) at all levels.
- Experience of working to appropriate health & safety standards and regulations.
