Bolton NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a dedicated Band 3 Patient Care Assistant to enhance our dynamic team. Our department operates in a fast-paced environment with a significant patient turnover. We are looking for individuals who are passionate about patient care, exhibit a positive demeanor, and possess a keen interest in Trauma and Orthopaedics.
Our unit includes a Plaster Room and an Orthopaedic Clinic catering to both adult and pediatric patients. This role offers a unique chance to master the skills of casting, bracing, and basic wound management for both hospital and community settings.
There are ample opportunities for career advancement, skill development, and enhancement of clinical competencies within this specialized unit. You will collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to assess patient needs, as well as design, implement, and evaluate care plans.
This role includes training with the expectation to pursue the British Orthopaedic Association (BOA) Casting Certificate.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain a safe and organized work environment at all times.
- Perform various tasks involving direct patient care as directed by seasoned practitioners, ensuring that assigned nursing duties are carried out safely and effectively.
- Monitor patient conditions, document observations as instructed, and communicate findings to nursing staff.
- Assist patients in utilizing restroom facilities and managing bodily waste.
- Support the collection of pathological specimens.
- Aid in the safe movement of patients and equipment, adhering to proper handling techniques.
- Assist in therapeutic and diagnostic procedures by preparing, cleaning, and managing equipment.
- Help maintain supplies, equipment, and inventory, promptly reporting any issues.
- Respond to health emergencies as directed by registered staff.
- Assist and accompany medical personnel within the department.
- Undertake duties relevant to the role and patient care requirements.
- Complete necessary administrative tasks as required.
- Take responsibility for personal training, ensuring compliance with mandatory and statutory requirements.
