Vaccination Nurse

Sheffield, Sheffield, United Kingdom Sheffield Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust Full time

Job Overview

Are you eager to acquire and enhance specialized competencies in a nurturing and forward-thinking department where delivering and sustaining high-quality, evidence-based care to patients and their families is paramount?

If your response is Yes , then this role may be the perfect fit for you.

This position involves working within the Interventional Radiology department in a surgical-like setting, where prior experience in peri-operative roles, such as scrubbing and circulating, is advantageous but not mandatory, as we provide comprehensive training and support to develop these specialized skills internally.

Our dedicated Practice Educator will assist you with your orientation and continuous professional growth.

We offer support for regional specialties, including emergency thrombectomy for stroke patients, stereotactic radiosurgery, and services for Pulmonary Hypertension. Our department conducts over 25 sessions weekly, offering a diverse array of procedures, many of which are cutting-edge and complex. The nursing team is available for out-of-hours and weekend support as part of a 24-hour on-call service.

Our patient demographic spans all ages and specialties across the hospital, and we collaborate closely with other hospitals to provide specialized assistance when necessary.

Please note that successful candidates will be required to wear protective lead aprons as part of their duties.

Main Responsibilities

The role of the interventional radiology nurse is crucial for managing and delivering patient-centered care before, during, and after interventions. We seek qualified staff nurses who can uphold this exceptionally high standard of direct patient care.

The Radiology Department operates across two sites, and this role will involve responsibilities at both locations.

The first site provides care for patients undergoing various diagnostic and treatment procedures, including:

  • Gastrointestinal procedures, such as PTCs and GI stenting, supporting numerous cancer pathways.
  • Fluoroscopy procedures, including barium studies and X-ray guided interventions.
  • Musculoskeletal pain management and vertebroplasty.
  • Ultrasound diagnostics and interventions, including biopsies and drainage.
  • CT-guided interventions, including lung biopsies.
  • Emergency care through the Accident and Emergency department.

The second site also manages patients undergoing similar investigations and procedures, in addition to:

  • Neuroangiography, including coiling and embolization.
  • Urological interventions.
  • Vascular procedures, including line insertions and emergency interventions.

We operate a mix of general anesthesia and non-anesthesia lists and take pride in being part of a skilled and supportive multidisciplinary team that prioritizes safe and effective patient care.

Working for Our Organization

You will be part of an organization that values and respects its staff and the community it serves. The Trust is a leader in the NHS and research sectors, offering excellent benefits for its employees, including commitments to professional development and policies that support work-life balance.

We recognize that interventional radiology is rapidly evolving with advancements in technology and skills, and we encourage our nursing team to embrace opportunities for growth and knowledge expansion.

We are excited about the potential for new developments within the department.
