Position Overview
Located in our Birmingham office, the Business Generation Manager (BGM) will collaborate closely with the Birmingham senior leadership team, the Advisory business, and the business generation unit. The BGM's primary responsibility will be to assist the Birmingham leadership in enhancing market engagement and securing new business opportunities. This role will involve managing our key client program in Birmingham, focusing on strategic bids, framework renewals, targeting new clients, and maintaining relationships with existing clients.
The BGM will also be tasked with developing branding and communication strategies to engage the local Birmingham market, driving pipeline generation, and supporting our advisory practice's go-to-market strategy, which will be disseminated throughout the broader business and implemented locally. This position is hands-on and requires a candidate who can maintain a strategic perspective while leading initiatives.
Our Birmingham team is integral to some of the most complex and fascinating projects in the region, influencing infrastructure and real estate investments that bolster the local economy. This dynamic role offers a variety of challenges and the opportunity to shape the future of business generation.
Key Responsibilities
The responsibilities of the role include, but are not limited to:
- Supporting the strategic hub lead and senior management team in driving business generation across various sectors and key accounts in Birmingham.
- Ensuring the Birmingham teams develop a robust and accurate sales pipeline, providing insightful analysis to cost centre leads, and using this data to enhance business generation activities.
- Facilitating the development of pursuit teams for strategic opportunities, managing bid teams, and contributing to the creation of high-quality proposals.
- Assisting the Hub lead in identifying strategic targets for Birmingham and developing pursuit plans while holding key account teams accountable for execution.
- Supporting key account plans and pursuits to drive activity linked to the Birmingham brand plan and demonstrating progress.
- Identifying growth sectors and market trends in Birmingham, translating these insights into effective campaigns.
- Developing a pipeline of brand-raising activities to maintain a strong profile with current and prospective clients.
- Collaborating with the Senior Campaign Manager to maximize client-facing campaigns that drive business generation across the Advisory business.
- Championing national business generation initiatives within the team and across the organization.
Education and Experience
- A recognized professional qualification or equivalent experience in relevant fields such as marketing, communications, or business administration. The level of experience and candidate aptitude is paramount.
- Experience in professional services.
- Understanding of the UK real estate and infrastructure sectors.
- Strong copywriting abilities.
- Self-motivated with the capacity to prioritize effectively.
- Excellent communication skills, capable of engaging confidently at all organizational levels.
- Ability to work collaboratively within teams, both as a leader and a member.
