Job Summary

Newcastle College is seeking a dedicated and qualified individual to fill the role of Lecturer in Engineering. As a key member of our Engineering department, you will be responsible for delivering and assessing high-quality learning programs in Engineering, across various levels of further education, higher education, and/or apprenticeship provision.

Main Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement engaging learning programs in Machining and Engineering, ensuring alignment with industry standards and curriculum requirements.
  • Lead engineering projects within a workshop environment, fostering a collaborative and goal-oriented team culture.
  • Prepare and deliver instructional materials, working closely with technicians to ensure effective resource allocation.
  • Organize and track student work, maintaining accurate documentation and records.
  • Contribute to the development of curriculum and assessment strategies, ensuring relevance and effectiveness.
  • Participate in program leadership, tutorial, and administrative duties, supporting the growth and success of our students.

Requirements

  • Hold a post-16 teaching qualification and English and maths qualifications at level 2, or be willing to achieve these within an agreed timeframe.
  • Be qualified to an industry-recognised standard in a relevant field, with a strong background in Machining and Engineering.
  • Demonstrate a proven track record of successful teaching and assessment practice, with experience in effective program leadership in FE, HE, and/or Apprenticeships.
  • Exhibit strong oral and written communication skills, with the ability to self-manage workload and meet deadlines.
  • Hold good IT skills and be adaptable to changing circumstances.
