Position Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and qualified pharmacy technician to play a crucial role in the efficient and safe distribution of chemotherapy and supportive medications within our Oncology Unit.
This position offers an exciting opportunity for a motivated individual who is eager to enhance the pharmacy experience for patients undergoing cancer treatment.
Upon meeting specific criteria, the successful candidate will have the opportunity to advance to a senior pharmacy technician role, which includes leadership and management responsibilities.
An ACPT qualification is preferred; however, candidates without this certification will be required to pursue accreditation.
Key Responsibilities
- Execute technical pharmaceutical tasks and provide organizational support to senior pharmacy staff in Aseptic Services.
- Assist in overseeing the technical components of chemotherapy supply to ensure high-quality pharmaceutical products are delivered to hospital departments.
- Support the development and implementation of effective training programs for technicians and assistants working in Aseptic Services.
- Contribute to proposals aimed at service improvement to maintain a safe and effective pharmacy service.
- Work as an accredited checking pharmacy technician (ACPT) once qualified.

Additional Responsibilities
- Assist in the safe and efficient supply of aseptically prepared chemotherapy and other medicinal products according to established protocols.
- Prepare documentation and labels for the distribution of ready-made aseptically prepared products.
- Accurately dispense outsourced parenteral chemotherapy treatments, ensuring compliance with quality standards.
- Ensure proper storage of materials in accordance with manufacturer guidelines and monitor expiry dates to optimize drug usage.
- Maintain organized documentation and records, archiving in compliance with legal requirements.
- Report any incidents or procedural deficiencies to senior staff for corrective action.
- Collaborate with senior technicians to ensure timely ordering and allocation of chemotherapy to patients.
- Participate in the quality assurance of all products and supplies through adherence to approved systems of work.
- Engage in ongoing professional development to maintain high competency levels in all required tasks.
