About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Production Scheduler to join our team at HITACHI RAIL LIMITED. As a key member of our operations team, you will be responsible for planning and coordinating the maintenance and production activities of our train maintenance centre in Doncaster.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement maintenance schedules to ensure the efficient execution of rolling stock maintenance in accordance with contractual requirements.
  • Collaborate with the Central Planning Cell to develop and refine the maintenance schedule for the IEP Class 800 fleet.
  • Review and prioritize maintenance tasks with the TMC Duty Shift Manager to ensure effective resource allocation.
  • Identify and mitigate capacity and resource constraints that may impact maintenance plan delivery.
  • Coordinate the work of contractors and external repair agencies into the maintenance schedule.
  • Monitor and reduce the backlog of defects to improve reliability and reduce reactive maintenance.
  • Be proactive in responding to incidents, disruptions, and emergencies on the operational railway and adjust the maintenance schedule accordingly.
  • Ensure defects in-service and emerging work are incorporated into the maintenance schedule.
  • Liaise with Planners in the Central Planning Cell, Duty Shift Manager, and Team Leaders to agree on the maintenance plan to be executed.
  • Administer and manage technical investigations to ensure timely resolution.
  • Utilize the SAP Maintenance Management System and other IT applications to inform and develop the workload plan.
  • Maintain the accuracy of SOROS at all times.
  • Review and correct coding in SAP in line with IEP contractual obligations.
  • Participate in daily conference calls and planning meetings.
  • Act as the SAP super user for the TMC.
  • Maintain the fatigue index for all staff, updating in accordance with changes to the resource plan.
  • Coordinate with the Training Department to plan training and assessment while maintaining resource requirements.
  • Support the Duty Shift Manager with day-to-day office management tasks.
  • Ensure all overtime, holidays, sickness, and absence are recorded and reported.
  • Prepare reports and provide verbal briefs as required.
  • Promote, support, and comply with all health and safety practices in the workplace.
  • Perform any other duties as directed by the Duty Shift Manager.
  • Ensure work activities for the train cleaning function are allocated to the relevant individual on shift each night and ensure all activities are closed in SAP once the job has been completed via the tablets.
  • Ensure any notifications raised during the shift are allocated to the relevant individual so that the SAP work order can be completed.
Requirements
  • Previous experience in scheduling maintenance and production.
  • Strong organizational and administrative skills.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to think quickly.
  • Experience with Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS) – SAP.
Desirable
  • Intermediate IT skills – Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint.
  • Previous experience in rolling stock maintenance.
