Commissioning Engineer for Kuiper Ground Systems

We are seeking an experienced Commissioning Engineer to join our team at Amazon Kuiper Services Europe SARL, UK Branch - Q18. As a key member of our Ground Systems team, you will be responsible for the design, deployment, and commissioning of high-performance ground gateways for our Kuiper satellite constellation.
Key Responsibilities- Lead Ground Terminal Installations: You will lead teams performing onsite ground terminal installations and commissioning at hundreds of sites globally.
- Deliver Operational Sites: You will deliver operational sites to the Kuiper Operations Team, including physical, network, RF, calibration, and site acceptance.
- Site Troubleshooting and Maintenance: You will support site troubleshooting and maintenance to provide an unparalleled customer experience.
- Collaborate with Industry Partners: You will engage with industry-leading partners to execute our installation strategy.
- Develop Installation Processes: You will develop installation processes, mechanisms, and standard operating procedures supporting terminal installation at scale.
- System Test and Verification: You will design system test and verification processes and document them in scalable mechanisms.
- Program Management: You will manage tactical interactions with partners to ensure milestones, deliverables, and technical artifacts are technically compliant with project objectives and programmatic requirements.
- Team Leadership: You will work with stakeholder teams to deliver terminals in sync with ground implementation goals.
- Training and Development: You will develop team training plans and materials.
- Communication and Reporting: You will communicate regularly with senior management on status, risks, and change control.
- Problem-Solving and Innovation: You will relentlessly simplify and innovate to solve challenging site installation and integration problems.
- Regional Leadership: You will own our efforts in the EMEA region, potentially growing and leading our team in the region.
The Ground Systems team is responsible for the architecture, design, build, and installation of Kuiper's Ground and TT&C Gateways. Our Ground Gateways enable high data rate, low latency communications between Kuiper points of presence and our Low Earth Orbit Satellite constellation.
The team works closely with Ground Infrastructure Services, Networks, Regulatory, Payload Test, and RF Systems teams to ensure Kuiper provides a seamless customer experience.
Requirements- Experience in Satellite Communications Ground Systems and Operations: You should have experience working in satellite communications ground systems and operations.
- Design and Commission of Radio/Mobile Telecommunications/RAN Installations or SATCOM Earth Stations: You should have work experience in design and commission of radio/mobile telecommunications/RAN installations or SATCOM earth stations.
- Network Integration Experience: You should have network integration experience in troubleshooting and onsite support.
- Technical Discipline or Equivalent Experience: You should have a Bachelor's degree with a technical discipline or equivalent experience.
- Project Leadership Experience: You should have experience leading projects among cross-functional teams, building sustainable processes, and coordinating delivery schedules.
- Satellite Communications Earth Stations or Network Development, Deployment, and Operation: You should have experience with satellite communications earth stations or network development, deployment, and operation.
- Leading Globally Located Earth Station Projects: You should have experience leading globally located earth station projects.
- Kaband Experience: You should have Kaband experience as related to earth/ground station infrastructure.
- Collaboration and Communication Skills: You should be able to work collaboratively as a member of a highly motivated team who insists on the highest standards and deliver systems that delight customers.
- Leadership and Mentoring Experience: You should have experience leading and mentoring junior engineers.
- Microsoft Office Applications: You should have experience with Microsoft Office applications such as Word, Excel, Project, and PowerPoint.
- Technical, Problem-Solving, and Communication Skills: You should have excellent technical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- LEO and/or MEO Satellite Systems Experience: You should have experience with LEO and/or MEO satellite systems.
- Program Management Tools: You should have expertise with program management tools such as Smartsheet, Confluence, and JIRA.
