Wood is seeking an Instrumentation Specialist to join our team. This role is essential for maintaining operational excellence in instrumentation and control systems.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES


Instrumentation specialists are tasked with the assembly, installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of various instrumentation systems and their components. These systems may utilize electronic, electro-mechanical, or pneumatic technologies to monitor, record, and regulate a diverse range of machinery and equipment.

A critical function of the instrumentation specialist is the prompt identification and resolution of faults to ensure that plant and equipment are restored to optimal working conditions.

Given the variety of equipment and systems involved, a comprehensive understanding of test and measurement tools is necessary.

Instrumentation specialists should possess a solid grasp of engineering principles, the roles of components within systems, and the implications of component failures on overall system performance.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

The ideal candidate will:

  • Demonstrate proficiency in assembling, installing, conducting preventative maintenance, diagnosing issues, and disassembling instrumentation and control systems.
  • Be knowledgeable about relevant regulations, local requirements, and safe working practices, including the importance of following established reporting procedures.
  • Understand the preparation and restoration needs concerning the work environment, materials, and equipment, as well as the potential consequences of improper actions.
  • Be capable of interpreting engineering drawings, specifications, quality standards, and equipment manuals, and adhere to work instructions and schedules.
  • Know which tools and equipment to utilize and when, following proper training and safety protocols.
  • Take responsibility for the care and security of tools and equipment used in their work.
  • Recognize various defects and testing discrepancies, understand how to identify them, and know the appropriate corrective actions.
  • Perform functional diagnostics and testing of equipment prior to returning it to service.
  • Effectively manage digital information and technology to support work-related tasks and communicate relevant information.
