Job Overview

NRL is excited to present new and significant opportunities within a global infrastructure organization. We are seeking Senior and Principal level Structural Engineers who possess a robust background in regulated and quality-driven systems. These positions are exclusively permanent and will be part of our client's Nuclear Division.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee and direct structural engineering projects from inception to completion, ensuring adherence to technical specifications, regulatory guidelines, and project schedules.
  • Offer technical guidance and mentorship to a team of engineers, promoting a collaborative and innovative atmosphere.
  • Perform comprehensive structural analysis and design, including seismic assessments and stress evaluations, to deliver resilient engineering solutions.
  • Evaluate and authorize engineering designs, drawings, and calculations to maintain precision and compliance with safety and quality benchmarks.
  • Work closely with multidisciplinary teams and external partners to incorporate structural engineering solutions into broader project objectives.
  • Draft and present technical reports, proposals, and recommendations to clients and senior leadership.
  • Ensure adherence to regulatory standards, codes, and norms relevant to nuclear structural engineering.
  • Contribute to the ongoing enhancement of engineering practices, methodologies, and processes within the organization.

Qualifications:

We are looking for candidates who meet the following criteria:

  • A Bachelor's degree in Civil or Structural Engineering, or an equivalent qualification.
  • Chartered Engineer (CEng) status with membership in MICE or MIStructE.

The ideal candidate for the Principal Structural Engineer role should possess:

  • Proven expertise in specialized areas pertinent to the engineering field, with a successful history of applying specialized knowledge effectively.
  • The capability to provide strategic direction based on extensive project experience across a diverse portfolio, influencing projects and programs.
  • Leadership skills in a critical engineering role, responsible for managing resources and expertise.
  • Experience in the Nuclear Sector, covering both new construction and decommissioning projects, in positions requiring professional engineering expertise and judgment.
  • A track record of successful project delivery, with roles that influence professional engineers in defining, implementing, and executing engineering work packages.
  • Preferably, proficiency in seismic and numerical modeling, including finite element analysis.
  • A demonstrated ability to mentor and guide technicians, graduates, and near Chartered members of the design team.
  • A solid grasp of design principles and the ability to apply them effectively.
  • Familiarity with European and American Standards.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
  • A valid UK driving license or an equivalent that allows driving in the UK.
  • The ability to meet the security clearance requirements in the UK.

The successful candidate will be self-driven, capable of working independently when necessary, with a strong commitment, eagerness to learn, and a desire to thrive in a dynamic, deadline-oriented team environment.

Candidates must be able to achieve SC level of security clearance.
