Key Responsibilities:
  • Underwrite new and existing portfolios of business within set guidelines, authority levels, and service standards.
  • Mentor and develop Underwriters, providing guidance and feedback to ensure their success.
  • Report to senior management, providing insights and recommendations to drive business growth and profitability.
  • Maintain a professional approach in all internal and external stakeholder interactions, ensuring effective, efficient, compliant, and profitable underwriting.
  • Collaborate with other stakeholders to maximize underwriting opportunities, minimize expenses, and achieve operations and service targets.
  • Develop and execute new business opportunities, interacting with existing and new brokers to drive growth and revenue.
  • Work with senior underwriters and management to develop and implement underwriting strategies that drive business growth and profitability.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant laws, regulations, industry codes, and Arch organization standards.
Requirements and Skills:
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in the financial services industry, with knowledge of legislative frameworks.
  • Demonstrable ability to grow a profitable portfolio.
  • Experience in a similar role, with a proven track record of success.
  • Tertiary qualifications desirable but not essential.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to develop and maintain effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office software, with a strong analytical and problem-solving ability.
  • Ability to work autonomously, with a high level of service delivery to external stakeholders.
