Position Overview

As a Clinical Ward Leader, you will be a qualified nurse or possess a clinical professional qualification within a multi-disciplinary field. Your primary responsibility will be to guide a dedicated team of nursing and multidisciplinary staff, ensuring that clinical excellence and exceptional patient care are consistently delivered.

You will hold managerial and operational oversight for your ward, addressing all performance aspects, including clinical and environmental standards, scheduling, and motivating your team of 40 Nurses and Healthcare Assistants, supported by 2 Clinical Nurse Leaders.

Your daily leadership and support will be crucial in sustaining operational excellence and high standards of nursing and care. Additionally, you will have ample opportunities to innovate, as you will be expected to spearhead initiatives aimed at enhancing the quality and operational management of your ward.

Key Responsibilities

Lead the nursing team in delivering high-quality, evidence-based nursing care that prioritizes patient and family needs. Manage the ward efficiently and effectively within the allocated resources. Facilitate the professional development of staff, fostering a cohesive and effective team. Promote a multidisciplinary approach to patient care in alignment with Clinical Governance.

You should possess leadership experience, ideally in roles such as Deputy Ward Manager, Clinical Nurse Leader, or other senior management positions. Strong communication skills and the ability to lead by example are essential, as is the capability to implement new procedures and reinforce existing practices within your team. A positive attitude, creative problem-solving skills, and exceptional leadership abilities are vital. Our Clinical Ward Leaders are expected to inspire their teams and articulate a clear and compelling vision, influencing and supporting those around them while embracing change enthusiastically.
