Youth Justice Officer

We are seeking an experienced Youth Justice Worker to join our team at the London Borough of Hounslow. As a key member of our Youth Justice Service, you will play a vital role in supporting children and young people who are at risk of offending or have already committed a crime.
As a Youth Justice Worker, you will be responsible for assessing the needs of children and young people, developing and delivering interventions to prevent reoffending, and working closely with other agencies to ensure a coordinated approach to youth justice.
You will have a strong understanding of child and adolescent development, as well as evidence-based practice that leads to good outcomes for children, families, and the community. You will be able to take a Child First approach, which takes account of disproportionality, trauma, and the diverse needs of children in Hounslow.
About the TeamThe Youth Justice Service is a multi-agency team that works to prevent offending by children and young people. We work closely with the Police, Probation Service, Education, and Health Service to provide a comprehensive approach to youth justice.
As a member of our team, you will have the opportunity to work with a diverse range of children and young people, and to contribute to the development of our service. You will be part of a supportive and collaborative team that is committed to making a positive difference in the lives of children and young people.
Key Responsibilities- To have a good knowledge of child and adolescent development, the factors that place children at risk of offending, and evidence-based practice that leads to good outcomes for children, families, and the community.
- To be able to take a Child First approach, which takes account of disproportionality, trauma, and the diverse needs of children in Hounslow.
- To be able to write court reports, reports for other panels, and co-develop intervention plans with children that are based on robust assessments, then deliver effective strength-based interventions and respond to rapidly changing circumstances.
- To contribute to the development of our service, by working positively with colleagues in the Service and across organisations to ensure joined-up, consistent practice, whilst looking for opportunities to improve outcomes for children and families.
We are looking for individuals who:
- Have a recognised qualification relevant to Youth Justice work.
- Have experience of working with children who offend or may be at risk of offending.
- Have a Child First and trauma-informed approach to their work.
- Can form and sustain professional relationships with children and families.
