Main Responsibilities

  • Process personal, telephone, and electronic requests for appointments
  • Answer incoming calls, transferring calls or dealing with the caller's request appropriately
  • Signpost patients to the correct service
  • Process incoming and outgoing mail
  • Initiate contact with and respond to requests from patients, team members, and external agencies
  • Read code data on electronic medical records
  • Photocopy documentation as required
  • File and store records as required
  • Data entry of new and temporary registrations and relevant patient information as required
  • Input data into patients' healthcare records as necessary
  • Scan patient-related documentation and attach scanned documents to patients' healthcare records
  • Process requests for information, such as subject access requests, insurance/solicitors letters, and DVLA forms, to the administrative team
  • Manage all queries, including administrative queries, in an efficient manner
  • Maintain a clean, tidy, and effective working area at all times
  • Support all clinical staff with general tasks as requested

About Us

James Alexander Family Practice is a large Primary Care Organisation delivering general medical services across two sites. We function as two separate teams but come together to support each other with training, educational events, and celebrations. Our total list size is over 20,000 patients, with a diverse clinical team of medical and non-medical staff.

Person Specification

  • Essential:
    • GCSE grade A to C in English and Maths
    • Ability to work individually or as part of a team
    • Ability to apply yourself in an appropriate manner in a potentially challenging environment
  • Desirable:
    • Previous experience in a similar role would be advantageous but not essential as full training will be provided
    • Experience of working in primary care desirable but not essential as full training will be provided
