Role Overview:

We are seeking an Associate Technical Director EIA/SEA Consultant to join our Environmental Planning team. As a key member of our team, you will work collaboratively with technical specialists on various projects, lead and coordinate EIA/SEAs, and establish strong client relationships.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the coordination and delivery of environmental work for multi-disciplinary teams, influencing project development and delivering optimal environmental outcomes.
  • Undertake high-quality work and review the work of others.
  • Work in partnership with other Environmental Planning team members across the UK and internationally.
  • Proactively manage selected projects or components of projects, taking responsibility for resource allocation, managing subcontractors, and quality assurance.
  • Lead and support tender proposal/bids, working as part of a project-winning team.
  • Provide environmental advice and support to clients, project managers, and colleagues.
  • Engage with consultees and stakeholders.
  • Ensure added value for clients.
  • Develop outstanding reports, summarizing and explaining outcomes to non-technical audiences.
  • Manage projects, overseeing performance on technical, quality, commercial, and health and safety.

Requirements:

  • Excellent knowledge of EIA practices and procedures, including case law, and a solid understanding of environmental and sustainability principles and environmental technical specialisms.
  • Experience across a range of project types, with energy and rail experience welcomed.
  • Proven experience of managing and coordinating EIA screening and scoping activities and Environmental Statements, including the technical review of specialist chapters.
  • Practical working knowledge of the UK planning system and consenting process.
  • Strong report writing, verbal, and presentation skills, with experience in reviewing the work of others to ensure quality.
  • Experience in multi-disciplinary coordination and leadership of projects, with good project management and technical skills.
  • Experience in consulting and negotiating with planning authorities, regulators, and stakeholders.
  • The ability to work as part of an established team, supervising members of staff as applicable.
  • Commercial expertise, including forecasting, project management, and quality assurance.
  • Relevant degree or equivalent qualification, preferably with chartered status or working towards.
  • A valid UK driving licence.
  • Experience in the delivery of SEA and/or Integrated Impact Assessment (IIA) projects welcomed.
  • Desired: Knowledge and application experience of sustainability, waste, or carbon assessments welcomed.
