Palliative Care and Child Health Academic Opportunity

We are seeking a talented individual to join our team as an Academic in Palliative Care and Child Health. This is an outstanding opportunity to advance excellent and innovative research and education, especially on the care and support of children and young people with life-limiting conditions or medical complexity, their families, and the workforce that cares for them.

This academic post will be working closely with our Chair of Palliative Care and Child Health, Lorna Fraser, and will support an NIHR funded programme: Improving Care for Children with Life-Limiting Conditions: Developing, Adapting, Implementing, and Evaluating Interventions (ICICLE). The post will be 0.8FTE – 0.6FTE in the Cicely Saunders Institute and 0.2FTE in the Dept of Women and Children's Health in the CHILDs group.

We particularly seek applicants with experience and expertise in one or more of the following areas: children with life-limiting conditions or medical complexity, palliative care, and child health.

This is a part-time post (28 hours per week), and you will be offered a fixed-term contract until 30 November 2029.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct research and education in palliative care and child health
  • Work closely with the Chair of Palliative Care and Child Health and the ICICLE programme team
  • Develop and implement interventions to improve care for children with life-limiting conditions
  • Contribute to the development of the CHILDs group and the Dept of Women and Children's Health

Requirements:

  • PhD in a relevant field
  • Experience in research and education in palliative care and child health
  • Strong expertise in one or more of the following areas: children with life-limiting conditions or medical complexity, palliative care, and child health
