Position Overview

A prominent educational institution with a substantial staff and a diverse student body is in search of a Teaching Assistant to contribute to the Special Educational Needs Department. This role involves facilitating the daily operations of the SEND provision within the school environment.
This position is particularly suited for recent graduates contemplating a future in education. The institution is a founding member of a highly regarded teacher training partnership, recognized for its excellence. If selected, tailored guidance will be provided to assist with your journey into teaching. While this role does not guarantee a commitment to pursue a teaching career, it offers a one-year fixed contract, allowing you to explore your passion for education.
Your work schedule will consist of 30.5 hours per week across 39 weeks annually (term time plus one additional week).
Candidates with degrees in Mathematics, English, or Science are preferred, although applicants from other subject areas will also be considered.
Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate within the Special Educational Needs Department to ensure the smooth functioning of the SEND provision.
  • Serve as a positive role model, embodying the school's core values: Purposeful, Proud, Respectful, Curious, Supportive, and Ambitious.
  • Actively implement the school's vision and adhere to relevant policies and procedures in conjunction with the SEND Lead Practitioner.
  • Create a safe and engaging learning environment for students, founded on mutual respect.

  • Foster respectful relationships with students while maintaining appropriate professional boundaries.

Qualifications:
  • Strong literacy and numeracy skills (minimum of grade C at GCSE or equivalent) in English Language and Mathematics.
  • Experience in an educational setting.
  • Familiarity with specific areas of Special Educational Needs.
  • Ability to assess learning needs and pursue professional development opportunities.
  • Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of young individuals.
  • Capability to build and maintain appropriate relationships with children and young people.
  • Adaptation of ICT tools to meet individual student requirements.
  • Understanding of the national curriculum and relevant educational programs.
