We are looking for a dedicated and motivated doctoral researcher to join our team at the School of Civil Engineering, focusing on the simulation of microorganism transmission in healthcare environments. This role is part of the esteemed Marie Sklodowska-Curie Actions (MSCA) doctoral network, specifically within the HumanIC project. This pioneering initiative brings together top academic institutions and industry partners in the healthcare HVAC sector to train the next generation of engineers and scientists in transforming indoor climates for Human-centric Healthcare Environments.
Your main task will involve creating sophisticated computational models to illustrate the spread of airborne microorganisms generated by healthcare activities, followed by validating these models through experimental or real-world data. Utilizing these models, you will evaluate the risks of air and surface exposure linked to various transient releases and investigate potential preventive strategies.
This position offers a remarkable opportunity to contribute to vital research efforts and make a significant difference in healthcare safety standards. Additionally, you will gain valuable experiences through collaborations with industrial and academic partners throughout Europe.
Essential Eligibility Criteria:
Candidates must not already possess a doctoral degree at the time of recruitment;
Candidates must not have resided or primarily engaged in activities in the UK for more than 12 months in the 3 years preceding their recruitment under the HumanIC project, irrespective of nationality. Short visits, such as vacations, are not included in this criterion.
