Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Dental Care Specialist to join our Community Dental Service team at The Rotherham NHS Foundation Trust. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for providing high-quality oral health care to patients with complex needs, including those with learning difficulties, mental health problems, and challenging behavior.

Main Responsibilities
  • Provide comprehensive dental care to patients in dental clinics, hospitals, and domiciliary settings, including those with complex medical histories, mobility problems, sensory disabilities, and other special needs.
  • Develop and implement individualized treatment plans to meet the unique needs of each patient.
  • Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to ensure seamless care coordination and communication.
  • Participate in clinical governance and quality improvement initiatives to enhance patient outcomes and service delivery.
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of policies and procedures to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and Trust guidelines.
Key Skills and Qualifications
  • Full registration with the General Dental Council (GDC)
  • Eligibility to be on the Dental Performers List
  • Experience in providing dental care to patients with complex needs, including those with learning difficulties, mental health problems, and challenging behavior
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with patients, families, and healthcare professionals
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with a flexible and adaptable approach to meet the changing needs of the service
Person Specification
  • Essential:
    • Full registration with the GDC
    • Eligibility to be on the Dental Performers List
    • Experience in providing dental care to patients with complex needs
  • Desirable:
    • Wide range of clinical experience
    • Varied clinical experience in primary and secondary care
    • Experience of working in the Community Dental Service
