As a subsidiary of the Boeing Company, BDUK employs over 1,400 professionals in the UK, delivering innovative contracts to our defence clients. Our projects include advanced capabilities such as the E-7 AEW&C and the P-8A Maritime Patrol Aircraft, alongside Autonomous Systems, C4ISR Services, and comprehensive support for the Chinook and Apache Fleets.

The Engineering function at BDUK operates within a matrix structure, comprising various departments that contribute technical expertise and solutions to our programs. This position is situated within the Product Support Engineering Department, which encompasses several key technical areas:

  • Reliability Centred Maintenance Analysis
  • Reliability and Maintainability
  • Logistic Support Analysis
  • Engineering Data Exploitation
  • Obsolescence Management
  • Technical Publications
  • Product Support Engineering

In the role of GSE Engineer, you will facilitate the growth and implementation of Product Support Engineering principles while ensuring compliance with relevant regulatory standards. You will report to the BDUK Product Support Engineering Manager and receive technical guidance from other specialists within the department.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate engineering responses to on-site operations and communicate progress to the Product Support department.
  • Collaborate with Engineering, Operations, ILS, Publications, Supply Chain, and other Product Support Departments globally to gather and provide necessary data.
  • Develop maintenance policies and maintain plans, processes, and databases to ensure GSE outputs align with company technical data and UK regulatory standards.
  • Work with customers to define and gather design requirements for modifying or developing new GSE items.
  • Document the GSE approval process to address potential deficiencies in released engineering for existing GSE.
  • Identify requirements and develop/update maintenance documents while delivering routine Product Support outputs.
  • Conduct analyses to collate and provide actionable data relevant to GSE.
  • Review engineering changes to support customer maintenance operations.
  • Assist in creating and customizing reports and tooling specification sheets.
  • Identify and advance Continuous Improvement initiatives.
  • Support internal and external audits to ensure compliance with product and data requirements.
  • Work under the direction of the Lead Technical Support Engineer and the BDUK Product Support Manager.

Required Skills, Qualifications, and Experience:

Essential:

  • Ability to obtain SC security clearance.
  • Experience with support equipment usage and requirements.

Desirable:

  • Degree in a relevant STEM field or equivalent experience in engineering.
  • Understanding of Support Engineering in a military context.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Strong analytical skills with attention to detail.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
