About the Role:
As a Support Service Worker with Alberta Health Services, you will play a vital role in maintaining the cleanliness and safety of our facilities. Your primary responsibility will be to provide a variety of cleaning and housekeeping duties, ensuring that patient and staff areas are clean and hygienic.
Key Responsibilities:
- Clean and maintain patient and staff areas, including rooms, corridors, and common areas
- Operate and maintain housekeeping equipment, including manual and power cleaning tools
- Dispose of waste and recyclables in a responsible and environmentally friendly manner
- Perform floor maintenance duties, including dry and wet mopping, floor scrubbing, stripping, and waxing
- Transport and arrange heavy furniture and equipment using dollies and carts
- Comply with Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) and Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System (WHMIS) regulations
Requirements:
- Completion of Grade 10 or equivalent
- Physically capable of walking and standing for the duration of the shift, and performing repetitive physical movements
- General knowledge of cleaning techniques and methods
- Good customer service and interpersonal skills
- Ability to communicate effectively in both verbal and written formats
Preferred Qualifications:
- Education: Minimum Grade 10 required
- Successful completion of a basic housekeeping program is an asset
