We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Classroom Assistant to join our team at the Education Authority. As a key member of our staff, you will play a vital role in supporting the learning and development of children with special educational needs.
Key Responsibilities- Assist teachers in the delivery of educational programs and activities for children with special educational needs.
- Provide individualized support to students, promoting their social, emotional, and academic growth.
- Develop and maintain positive relationships with students, parents, and colleagues.
- Contribute to the creation of a safe and inclusive learning environment.
- Participate in staff meetings and professional development opportunities to enhance your skills and knowledge.
- Hold a minimum of a Level 2 childcare qualification as approved by the Education Authority.
- Have a minimum of six months' experience of working with children in a formal learning environment.
- Evidence of a working knowledge of information technology systems, including Microsoft Word and Outlook, and/or C2K schools IT systems.
- Demonstrable knowledge of the requirements of a Classroom Assistant (special educational needs), child development issues, and health and safety requirements relevant to the role.
- Ability to work flexibly and creatively to help ensure a child-centred learning experience.
- Highly effective interpersonal and communication skills.
- Proven team working and collaborative skills.
- Effective planning and organizing skills to ensure work is completed on time to the required standard.
- Evidence of how your experience and approach to work reflect the school's values/ethos.
- Have a minimum of one year's experience of working with children with special educational needs.
- Have a minimum of six months' experience working as a Classroom Assistant with children with special educational needs.
In accordance with the Safeguarding Vulnerable Groups (Northern Ireland) Order 2007, the Education Authority will require an Enhanced Disclosure of Criminal Background for this role. You will be expected to meet the cost of an Enhanced Disclosure Certificate.
