The Opportunity

Child sexual exploitation and abuse is a pressing global issue that demands a comprehensive and evidence-driven response. However, the lack of reliable data hinders the development of effective prevention and response strategies. This post offers a unique opportunity to lead research and drive data partnerships, prevalence estimates, and impact in the European region and beyond.

The successful candidate will provide senior research leadership through a Professorial Chair position and serve as the Director of European Hub for Childlight. They will be responsible for growing and improving data partnerships, prevalence estimates, and impact in the region, as well as focusing on other regions and/or global data projects as needed.

This is a full-time position (35 hours per week) with an open-ended contract review date of 30 April 2028. The postholder will be expected to demonstrate a strong track record of internationally-excellent research, leadership in research, and expertise in child sexual exploitation and abuse epidemiological research.

Your Skills and Attributes
  • An outstanding academic profile with a PhD in public health or a related field and a proven track record of research excellence.
  • Expertise in child sexual exploitation and abuse epidemiological research with a demonstrable impact in the European region.
  • Experience of leadership in research and attracting funding as a PI of research grants and in knowledge exchange through effective public engagement.
  • An excellent portfolio of high-quality research publications in child protection research.
  • Proven track record of working with child protection system actors.
  • A passion for making a positive impact and preventing child sexual exploitation and abuse.
